Headway East London

What does it mean to be a creative in today's artistic landscape? Are arts organisations and institutions actually holding us back from creating a truly open, accessible and exciting arts world?

These were some of the bold questions about the arts and culture industry explored by members of Headway East London.

I was invited to an evening panel discussion to capture responses to these important questions, observing the power dynamics within the sector. Using their experience as neurodiverse artists, members from Headway East London were joined by a number of leading figures across the arts and culture sector.

Together, they discussed and dissected the notion of "disabled art" whilst exploring ways to shake up the hierarchy oppressing those creating work outside of the mainstream.
